Britain Yearly Meeting takes place on 4 - 7 May 2007 at Friends House, London.
A blog has been set up called Britain Yearly Meeting and it will provide a perspective on the YM from 3 different viewpoints.
One will be Wess, who will be in the UK, over from the US.
The second will be Simon, an attender from Telford, also a Young Quaker.
The third will be me.
Although this will be the third time that I have been to BYM, it will be my first chance to attend a session.
In 2005, I was in the midst of moving house, but I jollied up to York and joined in with the under 19s programme, talking about my simplicity testimony in one session and Young Quaker magazine in another.
In 2006, I ran the Young Friends General Meeting stall, doing outreach for the GM, selling Young Quaker copies and subscriptions, selling Pardshaw Young Friends Centre postcards and Akany Avoko tea towels.
Quakers have experimented with semi-official/unofficial blogs before, notably Quaker Peace and Social Witness and other Friends at the Hong Kong round of World Trade Organisation talks in December 2005.
The idea for a blog came from John Fitzgerald, who works in communications at Friends House and edits Quaker News, a quarterly publication for Britain Yearly Meeting.
In an ideal world we would have more thrills attached, but without a budget, we're trying this out and would appreciate your ideas and feedback on how we could develop things.
I hope to get blogging soon, particularly looking at the agenda and the documents in advance.
It would be great if you could add a link to our BYM blog to your blog, so that we can build up some support before May.
Thank you.
