another perspective

This year, it seems to be one event after another in my Quaker world. After Britain Yearly Meeting in May, there was a bit of a rest, but I had a new job to get used to, before Britain Yearly Meeting's Summer Gathering at the end of July.

Having paused for breath, the international triennial gathering of Friends World Committee for Consultation is just a week or so away. This event will bring together Friends from all around the world.

I'm looking forward to hearing more perspectives on Quakerism, voices that will tell me more about their experience of seeking and following God.

I get some of that already, of course, every time that I visit quakerquaker and can read prompting from Friends predominantly in the US, but from a variety of spectra as far as the Quaker banana is concerned. I have also been challenged, not just by the visit of Friends from Ohio YM, but by spending more time recently in fellowship with Quakers from within my own Yearly Meeting.

Maybe I will change my ways too. After all religion is not just about what we believe, but what we do and how we live as a result of that belief.

This weekend I am looking forward to walking in Hampshire and Quaker meetings for worship in Westminster and south-east London.
